The challenge

Handling long and heavy downhole tools in the field can be both physically demanding and difficult to control.

During transportation and lifting into a lubricator, personnel may be exposed to heavy manual handling, while valuable downhole equipment is at risk of impact or damage – particularly when operating on uneven or rough terrain.

A simple, robust solution was needed to improve both personnel safety and tool protection throughout the handling operation.

Our solution

Radical Technologies developed a purpose-built dolly designed specifically for handling long downhole tools in field conditions.

The dolly supports and stabilizes the tool during transportation and assists during the lifting operation into the lubricator, reducing the need for personnel to manually support and maneuver heavy equipment.

Large, heavy-duty all-terrain wheels allow the dolly to be moved across rough and uneven surfaces while keeping the tool supported and under control.

The result is a simple and robust mechanical solution that makes a demanding field operation safer, easier and less likely to damage valuable equipment.
